Joining TPD and Other Information for New Recruits

Postby daBelgrave » May 13th, 2013, 10:20 pm

Welcome to The Phoenix Division. Here is some basic information you should know.

How to Join our Custom Chat Channel: TPD
We use a custom chat channel instead of fleet chat. This lets us communicate across fleets, factions, other Cryptic games, and even through external chat clients in some cases. We recommend that every member of the fleet join this channel. Otherwise, the lack of chatter on fleet chat makes us seem inactive.

Joining TPD requires an invite to the channel from another fleet member. If you are told you've been invited, follow these steps. If you still need the invite, be sure to ask on fleet chat. We still see it if we're playing our characters in the fleet.

Step 1: Click on the icon to the right of your chat bar to bring up a menu.
Step 2: Select "Chat Settings" on that menu to bring up a new window.

Step 3: Make sure you're looking at the "Channels" tab. Find TPD in the list of channels. If you've been invited or already joined the channel, it will be listed. Select the channel, and you should then have the option to Join at the bottom of the window.
Step 4: Congratulations. You have now joined our custom channel. However, there may still be a final step. Switch back to the "Tabs" tab, and make sure TPD is active. If you uncheck it, you will be unable to view the channel in your chat window. Another option you have is to set a color for the channel. If you do this, all chat on TPD will be that color. This helps you distinguish what channel you are talking on.

How to Earn Your First Fleet Promotion
In order to progress through our primary fleet ranks, we require contributions to our fleet holdings. At the time of this posting, these were the Starbase and Embassy, but others are expected in the future. However, there is an additional time requirement for your first promotion. This is to give us time to evaluate you as a member, and provide you ample opportunities to decide if our fleet is a good fit for you.

In order to earn your first fleet promotion, you need:
  1. 25,000 on the fleet holding leaderboards. This is a combined value across all fleet holdings. We even count contributions to our fleets for other factions.
  2. 2 weeks time with the fleet.
This might seem to be a difficult goal, but reality is joining the fleet as we embark on Fleet Mark queues can earn you more than enough for your first promotion in less time than is required.
